Population: 150 (1990)

Schwertner cotton gin. Cotton farming was prevalent in the area due to the fertile farming land. Schwertner was named for Austrian settlers who built a cotton gin in the area in 1903 and donated land for a town site when the Bartlett and Western Railway arrived in 1909.
